Brazil's industrial employment stable for third consecutive month |

Brazil's industrial employment level was stable in October compared to September, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said on Friday.
The industrial employment grew 4.2 percent compared to October 2009, the ninth consecutive rise. In the first 10 months of 2010, the industrial employment was up 3.4 percent from the same period last year.
In November 2009 to October 2010 period, the employment levels were up 2.3 percent, keeping an upward trend started in December. The figures were the highest since November 2008.
The number of paid hours to industrial workers was down 0.8 percent from September and up 4 percent year on year. In the first 10 months, paid hours were up 4.2 percent compared to the same period in 2009; while in November 2009 to October 2010 period, the indicator was up 3.1 percent.
Salary indicators were up 0.4 percent from September and 10.1 percent from October 2009. This year, salaries in the industrial sector accumulated a rise of 6.8 percent, and in the November 2009 to October 2010 period, a rise of 4.8 percent from the previous 12-month period. |
