Xcelience has installed a Piccola B10 Minipress to expand its formulation development and manufacturing capabilities.
 
Using the 10-station table rotary tablet press Xcelience can cost-effectively produce small batches. Data acquisition and analysis that works in conjunction with the press gives clients information, such as compaction profiles and strain rates.
 
Obtaining this information early in development allows clients to assess how the process and formula will work in production. This can be used to shorten development time, as well as to identify and resolve potential formulation issues.
 
“Adding a bench scale tablet press in the experimental area is consistent with our strategy of providing equipment appropriately scaled to the needs of our clients”, said Paul Skultety, director of pharmaceutical development services at Xcelience.
